L&P, Wattie’s Tomato Sauce, Skellerup, Red Bands, Vogel’s, Speight’s, pavlova, the All Blacks…
New Zealand has some legendary brands that hold a special place in our hearts. They’ve all stood the test of time, and have created an enduring and emotive connection with Kiwis.
When it comes to motorsport and rallying, there is another ‘Kiwi legend’: The Ford Escort. One of the most successful rally cars of all time, both nationally and globally, everyone who’s anyone in the world of rallying loves to see (and hear) an Escort come flying around the corner during a race.
But these beauties are only as good as the talent behind the wheel – which is why Wayne Pittams is a bit of a legend within the New Zealand rally scene as well (although he won’t admit it!).
Wayne has competed at an elite level since 1983. He has been a New Zealand Champion (Group A 1986) and has regularly enjoyed a podium finish in his chosen category throughout his career.
To maximise the success of this iconic combo, Pittams Motorsport has partnered with Paddon Rallysport, who provide driver development, preparation and technical support for Wayne’s Ford Mk 2 Escort.
“Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.”
